We are on a quest to uncover the greatest architectural design ideas known to humankind.
Our Key Tech? Sure! began on September 12, 2024, after I brought up Dr. Nikos Salingaros’s work on human-scale spaces and fractal geometry in architecture. That conversation quickly grew—Nikos suggested we bring on architect and researcher Ann Sussman, whose work explores how the human eye reads facades and how our brains are wired to respond to built form.
Nikos and Ann then introduced me to Dr. Nir Buras, architect and founder of the Classic Planning Institute. Nir’s work focuses on traditional urban planning and the timeless principles embedded in classical architecture—from the zoomed-out city scale to the zoomed-in architectural order.
Together, Nikos, Ann, and Nir have not only sparked new conversations, but also developed frameworks for understanding architectural beauty objectively—frameworks that most contemporary “starchitects” don’t satisfy, but which traditional and human-scale architecture often fulfills.
We talk about architecture school, spatial psychology, and how we can reconcile today’s design culture with the deep, unconscious ways humans evolved to perceive and inhabit space.
